                                                    August 2025 Updates From  The Office of Human Resources Student Enrollment in Hilton : Over the summer, I shared some enrollment data with a staff member who was surprised to hear that we have lost a few hundred students over five years.  This year's Kindergarten enrollment in the District is approximately 240 students, while the current 12th grade Senior class has 345 students. Please know that we continue to closely monitor the recent housing developments for enrollment changes.  HSA Cards : HSA Bank has switched from Visa to Mastercard, therefore those with an HSA Bank account will receive a new HSA card in the mail (if you have not already).     January 2025 Human Resources Update Lunar New Year - 1/29/25: In 2025, Lunar New Year falls on Wednesday, January 29. There will be no school for students. This day is a workday for 12-month staff, and a Non-workday for 10-month staff. 12-month staff seeking to take off should submit a request in Frontline. 10-month staff should code their timesheet as "N" for this day, representing that it is a Non-workday. Important Information for HCSEA Members with the Value or Select Medical Insurance Plans in 2025: Medical insurance premiums are typically taken out of 20 pays, from September through June. For the 2024-25 school year, the first medical insurance deduct was in the 9/27/24 paycheck, and the last medical deduct was scheduled for the 6/20/25 paycheck. However, because of the long December break, the 1/17/25 paycheck will encompass only 2 days' worth of pay, for the holidays on 12/25/24 and 1/1/25.   HR/Business Office November Blog Update 2024 Considering Retirement?   If you are thinking about retiring and would like to meet with us so that you can plan accordingly, please call the Human Resources Office to schedule a time that will work for you. Buying Back Time:  We received feedback from ERS and TRS  about the timeframe for buying back prior service. Currently, it is taking between 1 to 3 years for New York State to complete the buyback process. To buyback time, you must complete a buyback form and send it to the NYS Retirement System. According to NYS, you should expect to hear back within 10 weeks to confirm they received the form. The research, calculations, and buyback process will then take between 1 to 3 years to complete.  If you have questions about buying back time or completing the appropriate form, please contact Sherri DaMore in Payroll at extension 7032.
