August 2022 Human Resources Update

Hiring:  We are thrilled to welcome several new staff members this year in every building and department.  One of our goals this year is to create an affirming and welcoming environment.  Please introduce yourself and give them a warm Hilton welcome when you see a new staff member!

Required Trainings: We have consolidated all of our required trainings to the GCN Training Platform this year.  We recognize these videos and style of learning are not for everyone.  However, these videos are important.  Last year, we conducted the "Child Abuse" training in person during the October and March Conference/Consultation Days with Bivona.  This new training will meet the expectation of recognizing types of abuse, as well as the mandated reporting requirements.

COVID-19 Update:  We received guidance from NYS Department of Health on August 22, 2022.  Masks are optional for students and employees. However, we have plenty of masks.  Testing is no longer required for vaccinated and unvaccinated staff.  Test to stay is no longer recommended.  We were provided COVID home tests.  These tests are available at all schools and departments.  In an effort to support everyone with their questions around COVID for the 2022-23 school year, we have created a Frequently Asked Questions document for you to reference that is specific to Hilton.  Click here for the NYS Department of Health FAQ

COVID Positive:  Employees that test positive are expected to do the following:

  • Contact Human Resources and your Supervisor
  • Take a picture of the positive test and download Affirmation of Isolation.  Email both to the Human Resources department to support the use of 5 COVID days in lieu of accrued days.
  • Follow the building or department process to request a substitute.
  • Masks are recommended when staff return for days 6-10.

HR Forms, Contracts, etc...:  Human Resources does have a SharePoint with many forms, contracts or other information that you may need this year. The new HCSTA and HCSEA contracts can be accessed via this website.  These are searchable documents to make it easy to find the information you are looking for quickly. Employee Assistance Program(EAP):  We have received very positive feedback about our EAP.  All active employees have access to our EAP to ensure that we have the necessary mental health support.  We know that stress appears in many forms.  Please know that you may call this confidential support at no cost.  

Request Time Off:  If have an upcoming house closing and need to request a personal day, please make sure to make your request as early as possible.  We appreciate your efforts to communicate your time off ahead of time.  This allows your supervisor to plan ahead.

Safe Schools Hotline:  In an effort to expand the reporting opportunities for students, parents and staff, we have added a service that will help us create an additional option to report concerns.  If you are wondering whether you should or should not report something, report it.  "SEE SOMETHING AND SAY SOMETHING!" Job Opportunities in Hilton:  We continue to have many vacancies to fill this year.  We hosted a very successful HCSD Job Fair on August 9, 2022 from 4:30-6:30.
