January 2023 Human Resources Update
Feedback for the Human Resources Office: Internally, we are working to improve the culture of our department through our office meetings, seeking feedback and listening to how we can continuously support our employees. We are curious in questioning internal processes and service, not judgmental. If there is something that you are curious about or want to provide input, please reach out to Ned Dale. He can be emailed at ndale@hilton.k12.ny.us or ndale@ga.hiltoncsd.net. If you would like to call or set up an appointment, please do so at extension 7021.
Workforce Diversity: As part of the District Improvement Team, I am pleased to lead the Workforce Diversity Sub-Committee. We are reading articles and resources about how to ensure high quality hiring practices. In an effort to share some of our work, please consider reading a few of the articles below:
Retiring from Hilton in 2023: If you are thinking of retiring, please call Human Resources and set up an appointment so that you can understand contractual obligations and entitlements. You may also want to reach out to NYSTRS or Employee Retirement System of New York with pension questions.
Seniority Lists and Contracts: Seniority lists and searchable contracts have been posted for the HCSTA and HCSEA on our HR SharePoint, which can be accessed via the Hilton CSD Intranet. Please review your seniority, and let us know as soon as possible if you believe there is a discrepancy. HCSTA members can contact Debbie Palmeri (ext. 7015, dpalmeri@hilton.k12.ny.us) and HCSEA members can contact Mindy Leckinger (ext. 7001, mleckinger@hilton.k12.ny.us).
HR Employee Shared Documents
Board of Education Policy Updates: Just a reminder that we have moved to an online program for all of our Board of Education meetings agendas, minutes and other supporting documents. BoardDocs can be accessed via the Board of Education homepage. Some have asked where policies are kept and updated. As an example, the following policies were updated in October by our Board of Education. Here is the link to access and search all Board policies: BoardDocs Policies for Hilton
In an effort to improve our recruiting of substitutes for all areas, we will transition to a Frontline application called Absence Management. All employees will record their absences using this product starting July 1, 2023. We wanted to provide ample notice to everyone, as well as quick 1 minute video to see how the product works: Frontline Absence Management Overview As we have on-boarded substitutes, they are asking if we have "Frontline," which is commonly used among many districts. The seamless app or website can be added to all phones for employees, or there is a toll-free number to call. Substitutes using the app can work by seeing open jobs at multiple school districts. This may help fill some additional vacancies. We will no longer use SmartFind starting July 1, 2023 and absences will only be entered into Frontline for all attendance and substitute requests. SchoolFront will house all of the data through June 30, 2023. More information will be coming out throughout the Spring of 2023. Our goal is to reduce the use of multiple systems that are also more user friendly to our employees.
COVID-19 Reminders:
We have seen a significant reduction in COVID positive results for our staff in all areas. Please remember to follow the chart below as well as the process need to report if you are positive for COVID.

Hiring Updates:
Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics: In January, we have posted for our position and sent out a ThoughtExchange to all employees and parents. Our goal is to seek feedback on qualities and characteristics that we will expect in our next Director. Interviews will take place in March of 2023 with a mid-July start date.
Safe Schools Helpline: This is an anonymous reporting system for all Hilton students, parents and employees. See something and say something by calling the number below or make a report using the following link: www.safeschoolhelpline.com
Employee Assistance Program: Work Stress? Home Stress? Caring for an ill family member? We know that everyone needs help at times. All active employees may now seek the support from Employee Assistance Program. This is a free and anonymous service. Just call and make an appointment.
NYS Labor Law: NYS has required employers to post a variety of mandates in physical locations. Based on recent legislation, they now requires all employers to post required information physically and digitally. To access the required physical posters and information, we have dropped this in HR Sharepoint for everyone to access. Hilton HR Sharepoint Link
