August 2023 Human Resources Update
Hiring: We have hired some amazing new staff. Please reach out to these individuals with a warm welcome, and see if they need anything. In an effort to welcome our new staff, we convened an Onboarding and Orientation Committee over the summer to ensure that all of our support staff can attend building or department-based training within the first few weeks of starting school. Dates have been set and principals/directors will share this information.
Required Trainings: We have consolidated all of our required trainings to the GCN Training Platform this year. We recognize these videos and style of learning are not for everyone. However, these videos are important. We now have Reporting Child Abuse in an Educational Setting (SAVE Act NY) in lieu of the Child Abuse Training. We are working with GCN to ensure that this new training will meet NYS mandate that goes into effect on April 1, 2025. The NYS Mandated reporter training required for anyone without certification must go to NYS Mandated Reporter training and complete this training. If you are a certified teacher, updated training is not required until 4/1/2025. We will provide updates before you need to work on this certification. We also wanted to provide you the NYS Mandated Reporter Summary Guide again for your reference.
Frontline: Request Time Off: Starting July 1, 2023, we switched to Frontline Absence Management for time off requests. Everyone should have accounts with the appropriate balances that rolled over from 2022-23. Please be sure to check your 2023-24 accrual balances as soon as possible and contact Human Resources if you believe there to be a discrepancy.
Updated Claim Form: Please take a moment to download the Version 2 of the electronic payroll claim form. This is the ONLY version of the payroll claim form that will be accepted by the Business Office for payment moving forward. Click here for Claim Form 2.0

COVID-19 Update:
COVID Positive: Employees that test positive are expected to do the following:
- Contact Human Resources and your Supervisor
- Take a picture of the positive test and download Affirmation of Isolation. Email both to the Human Resources department to support the use of 5 COVID days in lieu of accrued days.
- Follow the building or department process to request a substitute.
- Masks are recommended when staff return for days 6-10.
- Individuals who have already used NYS COVID days for three occasions will be required to use their own accruals.

Employee Assistance Program(EAP): We have received very positive feedback about our EAP. All active employees have access to our EAP to ensure that we have the necessary mental health support. We know that stress appears in many forms. Please know that you may call this confidential support at no cost.

Safe Schools Helpline: In an effort to expand the reporting opportunities for students, parents, and staff, we have added a service that will help us create an additional option to report concerns. If you are wondering whether you should or should not report something, report it. "SEE SOMETHING AND SAY SOMETHING!" Our new service will also provide access to our students while school is closed.
